Rex Harwood - Division 2 Councillor
I was raised on a mixed farming operation 20 minutes north of Strathmore with my folks, 3 brothers and older sister, it was there I learned the value of an honest day’s work, responsibility, and perseverance. We didn’t play much in the way of sports growing up but we belonged to the Crowfoot 4-H Beef Club which became a big part of my early years and I loved it. I graduated from high school in Strathmore in 1993 and from 1999 to 2001 I studied Ag Business and Entrepreneurship at Olds College.
I am fortunate to have participated in many different ventures throughout my career including oil and gas, agriculture, construction and trades. I have been working specifically in the precision agriculture industry for over 6 years and currently I am employed by AgJunction as the Territory Manager for Alberta and BC. I am married to my lovely wife Tara and have 3 great children, 2 girls and a boy. We spend time taking them to many sporting activities including curling and hockey and in the summer we love to play on the water and go camping.
My Great Grandfather, Jim Harwood, was on Council, WID, boards and committee’s for over 30 years and helped to mold the community to what we see today. I travel Alberta quite extensively and can tell you Wheatland is definitely one of the best municipalities I’ve seen, hopefully we can preserve it by working together.
